6 week round-up by Mom
So Henry starts his seventh week of life today and things are already looking up. The last few nights we’ve been back to our regular sleep schedule with stretches of four and even five and a half hours of sleep at a time. This makes for a very happy Mommy!
Also, Friday morning I woke up to Henry cooing and thrashing about in his cradle. I picked him up and laid him down on our bed to unwrap his swaddle (so I could get down to the dirty job of changing him). When I started talking to him, he smiled at me!!! He wasn’t exactly looking at me when he did it…but it was definitely a reaction to my voice. His whole face lit up and even his eyes were smiling, so I know it was a real smile this time instead of just a gas bubble or sucking reflex. FINALLY, some pay-off!!! ;^)
Since then, he’s thrown quite a few smiles my way. They mostly happen in the morning and early afternoon when Henry is at his most content. Of course, whenever we try to record this phenomena, he stops. But, eventually we’ll be able to post a smiling Henry on the site.
In other news, our “well-baby” visit to the pediatrician revealed that Henry has gained yet another pound. We’re now a healthy 10 lb. 2 oz. A very respectable weight for a six week old OR a Thanksgiving turkey. He’s also grown another inch and a half (nearly 23 inches!).
Laura - I am so excited for you. You are going to be (already are) a great mom - you were made for motherhood. I love your entries on life with Henry. Take care and continue to enjoy - they change minute by minute some days, so keep your eyes open so you don’t miss anything.
God Bless!
Don’t worry… We are keeping our eyes open and our camera close. Wouldn’t want to miss a minute. And yes, they do grow up fast. He’s already busting out of the shirt we brought him home from the hospital in.
Cheers,
Laura
