Flurry of Firsts by Mom
This week, was filled with many firsts (see list below) and much excitement. We had our two month (really, two-and-a-half month) check-up with Dr. Shreter. The result: Henry is now 11 lb. 9 oz. and 25″ long. YAY! I knew he was growing because he’s busting out of his small onsies…I think the 3-6 mo. old clothing is about to get some serious wear and tear.
Here’s the scoop on our “firsts”:
1) First trip to the grocery store – Went well until the end when Henry got fussy because Momma took too long and he was hungry.
2) First bottle feed – Dad fed Henry by bottle (pumped milk) on the advice of our pediatrician who said if we waited too long Henry would reject the bottle entirely. He was fine and gulped down 4 oz. in a matter of minutes.
3) First visit to a friend’s house – Went to Jill’s on Friday despite the big thunder storm because Mommy was dying to get out. Jill’s three year old really wanted to share her toys with Henry but Henry wasn’t interested. Jeremy, her 10 mo. old, was more interested in poking Henry’s eyes out…but Jill intervened.
4) First poop on Mommy – After Dr. Shreter examined Henry on Tuesday she didn’t fasten his diaper tightly enough and, after feeding Henry, mom got a delightful treat: bright orange poop all down the front of her shirt.
5) First alcoholic drink – On Saturday night Mom lived it up with a White Russian (okay, TWO) while Dad tried out his newly-found bottle-feeding skills. Henry didn’t eat as much as the first time but we think it was because he was less hungry and not because he was rejecting the bottle.
