Karate Champ by Dad

Looks like we’re going to have to move Henry out of the cradle soon. Apparently, thirty year old handmade wooden constructions aren’t strong enough to withstand the fury that is are his powerful little legs.

When Henry sleeps, he tends to flail his arms and kick out both of his legs. After this movement causes him to slide down to one end of the cradle, the kicks begin to knock out the pegs that hold everything together.

So, this weekend, we’re planning to swap out the cradle with the crib. Mom still wants it in our bedroom, which means I’d have to take it apart to reassemble it there, it won’t fit through our doorways as is. Not a big deal, but things are going to be a little more crowded, as the crib outsizes the cradle by a fair margin.

I must remember to measure the space required before starting in on the process. If it won’t fit in our bedroom we could be stuck having Henry sleep in his own room at three months.

It’s a traumatic change for mom and dad when baby goes to it’s own room, but in the end, everyone sleeps better.

Is he sleeping through the night yet?

  3. No, not through the night. Typically, he only wakes up once during the night, and then I get him up right before I go to work in the morning.

Mom got over her trauma pretty quickly. I think we’re all better off now. ;)
